What Are the Root Causes of Migration from Central America? Part 1: Democratic Governance and the Rule of Law
Alianza Americas and Presente.org will host a series of panel discussions on the reasons behind the exodus of people seeking safety in the region
WHAT: From March 18 to April 22, Alianza Americas and its members CARECEN of Washington, CARECEN San Francisco, Central American Black Organization (ONECA), Hondureños contra el SIDA, Casa Yurumein, and its partners Presente.org, Latin American Working Group, Center for Gender and Refugee Studies, and OXFAM, will host a series of live conversations to discuss the root causes of forced migration in Central America.
The six-part series will highlight leaders and experts in the region who are working on issues of social development, economic inequality, democratic governance, climate change, fiscal reforms, and gender-based violence and discrimination. Part 1 of our series will discuss democratic governance and the rule of law

¿Cuáles son las causas fundamentales de la migración desde Centroamérica?
Alianza Americas impulsará una serie de conversaciones analíticas sobre las razones detrás de los “éxodos” de personas en búsqueda de protección en la región
QUÉ – Del 18 de marzo al 22 de abril, Alianza Americas, junto a sus organizaciones miembro CARECEN DC, CARECEN San Francisco, Organización Negra Centroamericana (ONECA), Hondureños contra el SIDA, Casa Yurumein, y sus socios Presente.org, Center for Gender and Refugee Studies, Latin American Working Group, y OXFAM, impulsará una serie de conversaciones en vivo, dirigidas en inglés, para discutir las causas fundamentales de la migración forzada en Centroamérica.
La serie de seis conversatorios contará con la participación de líderes y expertos en la región que conocen de primera mano las desigualdades económicas, el estado de la gobernabilidad democrática, estado de derecho, cambio climático, reforma fiscal y violencia de género. En la primera conversación discutiremos la gobernabilidad democrática y estado de derecho.
