Critical Conversations About Mexico and Central America
Part 1: Guatemala

WHAT: From August 4 to September 8, Alianza Americas and Presente.org will host a series of conversations about the lived realities many face in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. The series will feature civil society leaders from the region who will discuss and explore structural solutions to problems such as poverty, corruption, the climate crisis, and the anti-democratic and authoritarian practices that dominate most of these countries. It’s imperative that the voices of Latin American leaders from the region working on an array of issues share their perspectives and solutions. Part 1 of the series will focus on Guatemala as a country of departure and part of the migratory route, the state of vulnerable communities such as women, the LGBTQIA population, and indigenous people, and the rule of law.

Conversaciones críticas sobre México y Centroamérica
Part 1: Guatemala

QUÉ: Del 4 de agosto al 8 de septiembre, Alianza Americas y Presente.org desarrollarán una serie de conversaciones sobre las realidades que muchos enfrentan en México, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua y Costa Rica. La serie contará con líderes de la sociedad civil de la región que discutirán y explorarán soluciones estructurales a problemas como la pobreza, la corrupción, la crisis climática y las prácticas antidemocráticas y autoritarias que dominan la mayoría de estos países. Es imperativo que las voces de los líderes latinoamericanos de la región que trabajan en una variedad de temas compartan sus perspectivas y soluciones. La Parte 1 de la serie se centrará en Guatemala como país de partida y parte de la ruta migratoria, el estado de las comunidades vulnerables como las mujeres, la población LGBTQ+ y los pueblos indígenas, y el Estado de derecho.
