Biden’s Latest Immigration Blunder Puts Children in Peril
CHICAGO –– This week, the Biden-Harris administration announced it would enforce the expedited removal of tens of thousands of families traveling with children who seek refuge in the U.S. The following is a joint statement from Alianza Americas and Presente.org:
“The Biden-Harris administration needs to align its policies with protecting human rights, while recognizing and elevating the tremendous contributions of migrants and refugees. The decision to impose the expedited removal process against migrant families traveling with their children is an abominable mistake. We expect our leaders to act in ways that prioritize care, family unification and dignity. By aligning themselves with the cruel policies of the previous administration, President Biden is failing to live up to the will and mandate from the voters who put him into office. We call on the administration to reverse this decision immediately,” said Matt Nelson, executive director of Presente.org.
“This announcement represents a major blow to the principle of humanitarian protection for families and children seeking humanitarian protection. The Biden-Harris administration committed to restoring asylum protections and protecting people seeking safe-haven, as well as immigrant communities. However, the decision to favor expedited removals constitutes a betrayal of that promise. It is obvious that the Biden-Harris administration remains trapped by those who continue to see migration as a negative factor to the wellbeing of the United States of America, when the opposite is true. It is truly shameful to see the richest nation on earth treating families and children running for their lives be sent back to the very conditions that made them flee, especially in the context of the global pandemic,” said Oscar Chacon, executive director of Alianza Americas.

El más reciente error del Presidente Biden en Inmigración pone a la niñez en peligro
CHICAGO –– Esta semana, la administración Biden-Harris anunció que pondrá en vigencia la expulsión acelerada de decenas de miles de familias que viajan con niños y niñas que buscan refugio en los Estados Unidos. Al respecto, Alianza Americas y Presente.org han emitido la siguiente declaración:
“La administración Biden-Harris necesita alinear sus políticas con la protección de los derechos humanos, al mismo tiempo que reconoce y eleva las tremendas contribuciones de las personas migrantes, refugiadas y asiladas. La decisión de imponer el proceso de expulsión acelerada a las familias migrantes que viajan con sus hijos e hijas es un error abominable. Esperamos que nuestros líderes actúen de manera que prioricen el cuidado, la unificación familiar y la dignidad. Al alinearse con las políticas crueles de la administración anterior, el presidente Biden no está cumpliendo con la voluntad y el mandato de los votantes que lo pusieron en el cargo. Hacemos un llamado a la administración para que revoque esta decisión de inmediato”, dijo Matt Nelson, director ejecutivo de Presente.org.
“Este anuncio representa un gran golpe al principio de protección humanitaria para las familias y los niños y niñas que buscan protección humanitaria. La administración Biden-Harris se comprometió a restaurar las protecciones de asilo y proteger a las personas que buscan refugio seguro, así como a las comunidades de inmigrantes.
