What Are the Root Causes of Migration from Central America?
Part 2: Social Development

Alianza Americas and Presente.org will host a series of panel discussions on the reasons behind the exodus of people seeking safety in the region

WHAT: As part of the series “Root Causes of Migration from Central America,” Alianza Americas and its members CARECEN Washington DC, CARECEN San Francisco, Central American Black Organization (ONECA), Hondureños contra el SIDA, Casa Yurumein, Centro Presente and its partners Presente.org, Latin American Working Group, Center for Gender and Refugee Studies, and OXFAM, will host the live conversation “What Are the Root Causes of Migration from Central American? Part 2: Social Development,” this Thursday, March 25. The conversation will feature leaders and experts from Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador who will discuss their respective country’s development and economic policies and their impact on social and economic rights in the region.

The six-part series will highlight leaders and experts in the region who are working on issues of social development, economic inequality, democratic governance, climate change, fiscal reforms, and gender-based violence and discrimination. Part 1 of our series will discuss democratic governance and the rule of law

Alianza Americas impulsará una serie de conversaciones analíticas sobre las razones detrás de los “éxodos” de personas en búsqueda de protección en la región

QUÉ: Como parte de la serie “Causas Fundamentales de la migración desde Centroamérica”, Alianza Americas, junto a sus organizaciones miembro CARECEN DC, CARECEN San Francisco, Organización Negra Centroamericana (ONECA), Hondureños contra el SIDA, Casa Yurumein, Centro Presente y sus socios Presente.org, Center for Gender and Refugee Studies, Latin American Working Group, y OXFAM, organizan la conversación en vivo denominada “¿Cuáles son las causas fundamentales de la migración desde Centroamérica Parte 2: Desarrollo Social”, este jueves 25 de marzo.
