Latinos Applaud Macy's for Taking a Stand for Inclusion, Dumping Trump

Trump Dropped by Major Retailer Macy's in Wake of Latino Outrage

July 1, 2015

Presente.org, the nation’s largest online Latino organization, issued the following statement in response to Macy's announcement today that they would drop Donald Trump from their stores:

“Today, diversity wins," said Arturo Carmona, Executive Director of Presente.org. "We are thrilled to see Macy’s dumping Donald Trump’s toxic discrimination against Latinos. Macy’s could never expect Latinos to flock to their stores while supporting a man who paints Mexican-Americans as rapists and killers, and we are encouraged that today, inclusion wins over discrimination."

"Donald Trump is an extremist who has no place in American stores, on American airwaves, or in American politics— his remarks have exposed a deap undercurrent of racism in America that Latinos fight on a daily basis. From unequal pay for equal work to racial profiling and brutality from the police and anti-Latino policies from the GOP meant to make our lives harder: we are fighting against Trump’s discrimination because it is hurting our friends and families. Today is a great day.”

The decision follows widespread outrage from the Latino community after Trump repeatedly referred to Mexican-Americans as 'rapists and killers.'
