Latino Voters to President Obama and Democrats:

Put families before party politics or don't count on our votes

Nov. 5, 2014

Washington, DC – Today, Latino voters broke previous overall midterm election voter participation records. However, the percentage of voter turnout was still noticeably slim.

In response, Arturo Carmona, Executive Director of Presente Action, released the following statement:

"There’s no one to blame for the suppressed number of Latino votes other than the President and Democrats, who clearly miscalculated the power of the Latino electorate in a tremendous way. This year’s midterm results illustrate a vote of no confidence in President Obama and numerous Democratic candidates, whose failure to address key issues discouraged much of the Latino community from going to the polls “

“As the Latino electorate continues to rapidly expand towards the future, Latino voters have a simple message for Washington: ‘put families before party or don't count on our vote.’ Now all eyes are on the President and his promise of executive action on immigration reform. This decision is monumentally important, as it will define Obama’s legacy and determine the faith Latinos have in the Democratic Party for the 2016 election and years to come.”
