Thursday: Latino Groups Picket Hispanic Caucus Gala Over Complacency with Obama Immigration Delays

Presente.org and NDLON Will Picket President Obama’s Appearance Thursday at the Hispanic Caucus Gala

Oct. 2, 2014

Washington, DC — On Thursday, October 2nd, members of Presente and the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) will picket outside of President Obama’s scheduled appearance at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. The groups are taking action over the Hispanic Caucus’ failure to hold the President accountable on his community-crushing delays to executive action on immigration reform. They question the Hispanic Caucus’ decision to welcome the President at their Gala after such a brutal betrayal.

What: Picket at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’ annual awards dinner

When: Thursday, October 2, 6:00 p.m. EDT

Where: Walter E. Washington Convention Center 801 Mount Vernon PI NW, Washington, District of Columbia 20001 (Mt. Vernon Metro, green/yellow line).

Who: 50 members of Presente.org and NDLON.

“President Obama’s appearance is billed as an attempt to repair relations with the Latino community-- but the only way he can do that is by ending any more delays to administrative relief and stopping deportations,” said Arturo Carmona, Executive Director of Presente.org. “The Latino community does not condone and will not be bought off with another political stunt committed at the expense of our families.”
