Over 20,000 Demand President Obama Provide a Living Wage to Working Families

Sept. 25, 2013

Washington, DC - Presente.org, the largest national Latino online advocacy organization in the country, delivered to the White House today over 20,000 petitions calling for President Barack Obama to guarantee a living wage to thousands of workers employed under federal contracts. The federal government can raise the pay and improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of these low-wage workers by simply capping taxpayer-subsidized contractor executive pay and put in place living wage standards.

“Our members are sending a clear message to President Obama in support of federal building striking workers: hundreds of thousands of families can earn a living wage and have a voice on the job, if you take action” said Arturo Carmona, Executive Director of Presente.org. “Government contractors are making huge profits on the backs of workers and taxpayers. We deserve better,” he added.

Presente.org members join nearly a quarter million petitioners calling on the President to take action today.
