“ Washing one’s hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless means to side with the powerful, not to be neutral. ” – Paulo Freire, Educator
There is a problem in Boston and its name is Secure Communities (SCOMM).
Governor Patrick did the right thing for Massachusetts by not enrolling the state in the failed SCOMM program. Yet Mayor Thomas Menino from Boston decided not to follow the governor's leadership and terminate Boston's SCOMM collaboration. This has created a wedge between local immigrant communities and their local police.
Mayor Menino is facing pressure from immigrant and Latino advocates all over Boston. Help us keep the heat on and sign the petition demanding that Mayor Menino terminate his city's relationship with SCOMM.
