TREAT US ALL LIKE JUSTIN BIEBER!!

Here's the message we sent to our members. After you've read it, please add your voice.

Justin Bieber is in trouble - but he’s getting much better treatment than most immigrants.Don’t unfairly deport any immigrant!

Tell Homeland Security to treat every immigrant with dignity!

Dear Friend,

Canadian teen pop music heart-throb Justin Bieber has gotten himself into some hot water in Florida.

At approximately 4am Thursday morning, Justin — who is in the U.S. on a work visa — was pulled over by Miami police after drag racing in his yellow Lamborghini. After failing a field sobriety test, Bieber confessed to having drank alcohol, smoked marijuana, and taken prescription pills. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, with driving without a valid drivers license, and resisting arrest.

After making a brief appearance before a judge, his bail was set at just $2,500 and he was released before a crowd of adoring fans who waited for him outside of the jail.

Mr. Bieber’s experience is far from commensurate with many other immigrants in this country, especially undocumented Latinos. Every day, police departments work together with ICE to keep at least 34,000 people in ICE detention centers. More and more, legal immigrants are being caught up in this terrible dragnet — a problem that Mr. Bieber hasn’t yet had to contend with despite being arrested for far more severe infractions than many Latino immigrants.

We don’t want Bieber treated like any other immigrant — we want every immigrant to be treated like Justin Bieber! Sign our petition asking Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson to do exactly that.

All eyes are on the Department of Homeland Security and ICE right now as they choose to leave Justin Bieber alone. Too many of our friends, family, and community members languish in detention centers for much more minor infractions — we can’t tolerate more favoritism.

This may sound like a joke, but the consequences are completely serious.

Please join us in calling on the Department of Homeland Security and all police departments to adopt this trend of treating ALL undocumented immigrants as if they were Justin Bieber.

Thanks and ¡adelante!
