Investigate Exxon’s Climate Disaster

Here's the message we sent to our members. After you've read it, please add your voice.

ExxonMobil lied and covered up the truth about climate change – for decades!

Demand that ExxonMobil be held accountable:

Dear Friend,

For almost forty years, ExxonMobil has known that climate change is real, and fossil fuels are to blame, according to the company’s own research. Meanwhile, they’ve waged an aggressive public misinformation campaign to deny the reality of climate change, and block any shift away from oil and gas that would hurt their profits – effectively preventing much needed action on the climate crisis facing our communities and our planet.1,2

Latino communities in the US and Latin America are among the most vulnerable to climate change, and some of the hardest hit by pollution from fossil fuels. New York’s Attorney General has already launched an investigation into Exxon’s likely criminal actions,3 and now, we need to make sure that other law enforcement agencies hold ExxonMobil accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

Tell US Attorney General Loretta Lynch and state attorneys general across the country to investigate ExxonMobil.

Today, leaders from around the world wrapped up a meeting in Paris for climate talks, known as the #COP21. It is the 21st time the United Nations has hosted an international conference on climate change. Nearly 200 countries unanimously embraced a legally binding agreement to reduce emissions and limit global warming by rapidly moving away from burning fossil fuels.4

However, we’ve seen very little action come out of these talks, in large part because of how companies like ExxonMobil have spent large amounts of money to shape the debate and slow down progress. And this year, like in past years, dirty energy companies are spending large amounts of money to help fund the conference.5,6 This lets them advertise to conference attendees, gain privileged access to lobby important decision makers, and act like they’re part of the solution, despite all they’re doing to block action and continue profiting from environmental disaster. It’s an important time to focus attention on the crisis of climate change, and the role dirty energy companies have played in blocking solutions.

Yes! I'll demand an investigation of ExxonMobil for hiding the truth and lying to the public about climate change.

Thank you for all you do and ¡adelante!
